Senior Living Communities Design Series
– The Charlotte –
The Charlotte Assisted Living and Memory Care is Charlotte, North Carolina’s newest luxury assisted living and memory care community, providing Seniors the care they deserve with dedicated services and amenities. The Charlotte offers assisted living and memory care villa apartments, where Members enjoy a retirement lifestyle rooted in wellness.
The community is located in the South side of Charlotte, offering the perfect place for retirement living. The Charlotte’s location provides both city sanctuary and convenient proximity to Atrium Health Pineville. This community is owned and operated by Senior Living Communities, an industry-leader in retirement living, who is based in the Ballantyne area of Charlotte. This retirement community incorporates a unique blend of local southern charm with the modern twist of city living.
Upholding the history of the city of Charlotte was priority for the Maxwell Group Design Team. “Creating a timeless aesthetic while maintaining contemporary design was an easy task with the local area in mind”, says Gina Gaines, the Senior Design Specialist for the Maxwell Group. Within the Charlotte, paintings and fabrics from the local area have found themselves as important details of the community.
An upscale aesthetic is created with attention to small details found throughout the community. The Design Team was tasked with a clear goal to create a beautiful home for future Members that upholds the standards of upscale senior living. Executive Director, Ashley Parrish says, “Our Design Team accomplished their goal in creating an upscale environment for senior living. Focusing on putting our Members first and providing them with the care they deserve, is our top priority.”
Being located in the Charlotte area allowed the Design Team to pull inspiration from the booming city around them. The Charlotte skyline became iconic of the city in the 1980’s and is consistently changing to adapt to the economic growth of the city. It stands today as a foundational piece of the beautiful city—it feels like home. The Design Team found inspiration from the evolution of the city for Members in each of their homes. By creating a familiar foundation for the community, Members can easily relate to their new surroundings.
Transitional design allows for blending of modern spaces and timeless furniture. Walking throughout the communal areas of The Charlotte a consistent collection of colors, finishes, and other design elements catch the eye. In the private villa apartments, The Design Specialists chose to create cohesive details that can then be customized by the Member.
As Members make the transition to senior living, they are typically leaving behind memorable, antique items that have been in their family for a very long time. These are pieces that make a space feel like home, so creating an area for them to fit perfectly was imperative. “Creating a space where our Members walk into their villa and it feels like home every day was the goal. Members are able to arrange every small detail in their new home, this makes it a special project for our team” says Gaines.
The concept of a timeless aesthetic is something the design team at the Maxwell Group strives for every day. This allows for Members to see themselves within their home for many years. As styles change, their home remains age-less.
A Community Full of Amenities
Recently, The Charlotte underwent a 2-million-dollar renovation completely updating all of the rooms within the community. This includes additional amenities to enjoy such as a movie theatre, salon, courtyard, new outdoor areas, and wellness center.
Members’ needs are at the forefront of our minds so providing quality areas for programming was imperative. The brand-new activities rooms, formal dining rooms, bar, and library are the perfect place for our Members to enjoy their retirement. The Charlotte has a beautiful courtyard at the center of the community, complete with new furniture, landscaping, and space that is perfect for any season.
In addition to the outstanding Wellness, Social, and Dining programs at the Charlotte, each member receives an individualized care plan specific to them. The Charlotte holds itself to a standard of excellence for it’s Members and their families.
